The Uterine Files @ Langston (Seattle – Central Dist)
The Uterine Files is a new play by poet and environmental activist Jourdan Imani Keith that explores the memory of water through an afro-futurist lens. In this episodic journey, we time travel from a plantation in Virginia to the intergalactic planet of Zornock. With an unapologetic nod to the X-Files and a tribute to Black women’s health, The Uterine Files uses poetic language to collapse reality and transport us into too many truths about ourselves, our beliefs, and our environment.
The Uterine Files will holistically approach the topic of the disproportionate amount of Black women who fall victim to involuntary sterilization, gynecological experimentation, and systemic stress syndrome. Featuring Melany Bell, Aishé Keita, Olisa Enricho, Monique Franklin, Sophia Haddix, Nichelle Anderson, and Kamari Bright. Directed by Sadiqua Iman.
