Returning the Bones (book reading) @ Freehold Theatre (Seattle – International Dist)
Join us at Freehold next Sunday, August 6th, for a reading from faculty extraordinaire
Freehold faculty member Gin Hammond will read from her new novel, “Returning the Bones,” a heartbreaking and hilarious work of historical fiction inspired by the adventures of her aunt, Carolyn Beatrice Hammond (Bebe), a pioneering civil rights activist. Bebe, a bookworm with a wild imagination, lives a peculiarly privileged life for a Black girl during the Great Depression, but these benefits come at a staggering cost. When an opportunity in post-war Europe arises, will she abandon everything she’s ever known to reinvent herself in an unfamiliar world?
Gin will read, sign copies, and answer questions from the audience. Light refreshments will be served during the reception following the reading. For those who would like to see Gin’s reading but are unable to attend the event in person, a livestream link is available.
Location: Freehold Theatre Lab studio theatre (517 Maynard Ave S., Seattle)
Free, RSVP here.
