Bastard Love Child – Portable Performance Festival @ 18th & Union (Seattle – Central District)
Written and performed by Marcy Rodenborn
“I’m the product of a great love story, but it wasn’t the love story I thought it was. I found out 10 years ago that I had a different Biological Father than I thought and as I peeled away the layers of my origin story, I found a lot more about the people who loved and created me. Truth: my Mom was in the Army prior to pursuing a Beatnik lifestyle with my Dad. Truth: My Dad loved me a lot. Lie: My Dad was straight. There’s swinging, formerly Jewish family, more half siblings that I ever thought I’d have, uncomfortable biological first cousins vs my Trumpie cousins I grew up with and a lot of love.”
Part of the Portable Performance Festival (Sept. 8-24) — A festival of solo storytelling and minimalist performance, with 24 different shows spread over 33 performances in 2.5 weeks, incorporating over 100 artists. The festival seeks to recommit to 18th & U’s original spirit and vision, inviting a new batch of creators to share their fresh “portable” work with new and returning audiences.
Tickets ($10-$50 per show, sliding scale available to all) and festival info here.
