The Latest  🔦

Here’s some news of note this week:

Seattle stage favorite Mari Nelson was just added to the cast of Coriolanus at Portland Center Stage, where she rejoins director Rosa Joshi and actor Kate Wisniewski, co-founders of the Seattle-founded upstart crow collective, which centers women and non-binary people in performance of the Shakespeare canon. Coriolanus opened this past weekend and runs through May 19. Info and tickets here.

To its five-day run, Intiman Theatre has added a performance (on May 2) of The Lion Tells His Tale, a stage adaptation of Delbert Richardson’s American History Traveling Museum: The “Unspoken” Truths, which uses artifacts and storytelling to teach American history through an Afrocentric lens. It runs through May 5. Info and tickets here.

Fans of Cambodian Rock Band, take note that Dengue Fever will play the Crocodile on July 15 (just announced). Tickets here.

Fans of Hadestown, take note that Bonny Light Horseman (the band of Hadestown writer-composer Anaïs Mitchell) will play the Crocodile on October 12 (just announced). Info and tickets here

And speaking of crocodiles and other lizard giants: Lizard Boy will perform at Oregon Shakespeare Festival, featuring the original cast of Justin Huertas (writer-composer), Kiki DeLohr, and William A. Williams. It runs June 11 through October 12. (Pro tip: go early in the run.) Info and tickets here.
