Kichi in the Woods of Present Memory – NW Playwrights Alliance @ Vashon Center for the Arts (Vashon Island)

Staged reading of a new theater collaboration with Bryan Willis, Cecil Cheeka, Takuya Masutani & the AIE Taiko Drumming Ensemble. Based on the true story of three Japanese sailors who drifted 5,000 miles before landing on the Makah shores south of Neah Bay. The Three Kichis were the first Japanese to set foot on North America and the first to visit London. This is the coming of age story of their ill-fated journey to return home. The event is free – suggested donation – $10. Mask and vaccination required. Special thanks to Charlotte Tiencken and Vashon Repertory Theater.
