Compañía Nacional de Danza @ Meany Center (Seattle – UW)
Spain’s National Dance Company returns after 14 years for a rare Seattle engagement. The company is internationally renowned for its expressively powerful and refined movement style exemplified in three classic works: White Darkness, a lush and virtuosic one-act ballet created as a requiem, is an exhilarating work by its former artistic director, choreographer Nacho Duato; The vivacious and satirical Sad Case, by Sol León and Paul Lightfoot, embodies the fiery, syncopated rhythms of Mexican mambo; And, Passengers Within — the latest creation by choreographer Joaquín De Luz, set to music by Philip Glass — is inspired by people determined to question the status quo.
