Weaving Threads: Honoring the Work of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., is a film and community art experience led by Carol Rashawnna. Rashawnna is a Seattle-based interdisciplinary artist who engages audiences in conversations about social, environmental, and racial justice.
Opportunities include:
Watch a screening of the film Mighty Times: The Children’s March, a 2004 American short documentary film about the Birmingham, Alabama Civil Rights marches in the 1960s, highlighting the bravery of young activists involved in the Children’s Crusade.
Contribute (or listen) to a moderated conversation after the film, along with creating a community art experience led by Carol Rashawnna. The community art will be on display at VCA.
Mingle with the community while enjoying savory appetizers by Chef Chantel Jackson of Thyme Well Spent Catering.
