The Fruit Salad Show @ Seattle Public Library (Downtown Seattle)
The Fruit Salad Show is thrilled to partner with The Seattle Public Library to officially launch our program. This 75 minute fruity fusion of sketch, drag, puppetry, drag puppets, readings, dance, & more is completely free. Stick around after the show for free workshops taught by director Francesca Betancourt and puppet artists Zane Exactly and Cassie Bray.
Between deadly laws being passed in the U.S. that target trans folks, harmful rhetoric calling queer educators “groomers,” book bans, drag bans etc., it’s getting increasingly dangerous to be queer in our world. The Fruit Salad Show aims to be a port in the storm, an act of resistance, and a place for the community to come together to create, share, and laugh. Our mission is to celebrate queer artists of all ages through comedy and camaraderie. We’re making an inclusive and accessible place for queers and ride-or-die allies to take up space. We’re cultivating creativity, education, and intergenerational connections. We strive to remove financial barriers for audiences while compensating collaborators with stipends and opportunities for growth and exploration.
Two different shows with two different casts — featuring Rebecca M Davis, Pearl Lam, Jackie Miedema, Adi Davidson, Des Davidson, Francesca Betancourt, Luna, Shadow Girls Cult, Tootsie Spangles, Allen Sledge, VenDetta Petty Kash D’Ho, and more.
The Fruit Salad Show is a recurring, roaming, pop-up comedy & variety show that centers queer voices. We partner with local arts and culture orgs to bring intergenerational programming to communities for free while compensating artists for their work. Founded in 2023 by educator, teaching artist, and performer, Bethany Hystad.
