Skye Hughes: The Body of Pain @ 12th Avenue Arts (Seattle – Capitol Hill)

the body of pain is an investigation of the pain of this American social and political moment and the systems of harm that perpetuate oppression and destruction of the planet. Through the lens of identity politics, it deconstructs rhetoric working within the 21st century information war fueling inequality, violence, and exploitation. It draws parallels between what is enacted upon the body and the planet. Going from the micro to the macro – individual somatic experience, through social and political phenomena, to the metaphysical – it imagines the end of humanity in images. Featuring Nabilah Ahmed, Miri Daniels, Kaitlin McCarthy, Kennedy Polovich, Sonam Tshedzom Tingkhye, and Kristen Yeung.
