Roost (staged reading + reception) – Sound Theatre @ Langston Hughes (Seattle – Central District)
Sound Theatre celebrates the culmination of our first playwright residency with William S. Yellow Robe Jr. Resident Zharia O’Neal. Join Sound for the live reading of her new play ROOST as we celebrate the next phase of her artist journey.
ROOST Synopsis: “Life after ‘reality’ can be…daunting.” The Roost, a rehabilitation retreat and half-way house for Black women who have starred in reality television, is on the brink of collapse. Founder and Chief Sage Eliaza has a risky scheme to keep up attendance — but with fellow Queens questioning their faith, a newcomer questioning everything, and the glow of what they’ve left behind growing brighter, she may just lose it all.
