Much Ado About Nothing – Vashon Theatre Fest @ Open Space Meadow (Vashon Island)
By William Shakespeare
Directed by Darragh Kennan
In this popular Shakespearean comedy, the war is over. Pedro Prince of Aragon, with his followers Benedick and Claudio, visits Leonato, Duke of Messina, father of Hero, and uncle of Beatrice. Claudio falls in love with Hero and their marriage is set. Beatrice and Benedick despise love and the other characters use trickery to make them fall in love with each other. Meanwhile, Don John, the prince’s misanthropic illegitimate brother, contrives a more malicious plot to thwart Claudio’s love for Hero and cause him to denounce her at the altar. Multiple misidentifications and misunderstandings ensue until…you come to the show and witness the hijinks and evil plots.
