Andelana @ Dukesbay Theater (Tacoma)
Tacoma maritime history meets spine-tingling ghost story! On a fateful night in 1899, a ship mysteriously sank in the Tacoma harbor. Rumors swirled amidst this tragedy — talks of ghosts and a curse.
The Andelana, a 4-masted barque, sank in the Tacoma harbor and remains at the bottom of Commencement Bay to this day. There were no survivors except for one apprentice seaman who had left the ship to seek medical treatment in town. No witnesses saw the vessel sink.
It was said that some on board feared the ship’s travels to other continents brought a curse on the Andelana. Why did the ship, which had sailed around the world, suddenly sink while anchored during a storm? Could the rumors of a curse on the ship be true?
