This sunny holiday weekend has no shortage of theatre-gazing options. Musicals continue to dominate the slate of openings, alongside brand new queer operas, short works, and popular shows closing soon. Here’s what’s on this week

Edmonds Driftwood Players: Unnecessary Farce  (opens 5/26, closing 6/11). In Edmonds.

Red Curtain Foundation for the Arts: The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee  (opens 5/26, closing 6/11). In Marysville.

Valley Center Stage: Dead Man’s Cell Phone (staged reading)  (5/27 only). In North Bend.
